A Wildlife Extravaganza aboard our June Scottish Cruises

What a season so far for wildlife! In one week aboard our June 12th cruises, our guests saw a fantastic array of wildife. Ospreys on the nest while cruising to Loch Sween, porpoises on the way to Colonsay and a pair of golden eagles soaring over the gardens at Colonsay. During an alfresco lunch, anchored in idyllic Balfours Bay guests spotted an otter swimming amongst the kelp with seals nearby;two corncrakes were clearly heard onshore and then unbelievably a minke whale surfaced in front of our vessel, flipping its tail high, then diving out of sight. Later that same day, on the way to Loch Scridain, two basking sharks were seen. The rest of the week brought more basking sharks at Staffa and Gometra and near Tobermory as well as puffins, guillemots, cormorants, shags, razorbills and fulmars on Lunga. While anchored in beautiful Loch Spelve and tucking into mussels fresh from the local mussel farm, two sea eagles were spotted, a delightful end to the week. Our guests aboard our "Heritage and Wildlife or South Argyll" cruise in the same week were equally fortunate with sightings of porpoises, dolphins, basking shark, deer, wild horses, wild goats, golden eagles, ravens and a wide ranged of seabirds, including the puffins whcih are still around Loch Fyne
