The Cuillins of Skye from The Majestic Line Vessel |
as calling in at the remote Hebridean Island of Rum. Every cruise is different but this will give you a taste of some of the fabulous highlights on offer.
The Glen Massan left Oban for Tobermory on Saturday afternoon where we anchored for the night. On Sunday morning we headed to Inverie in Knoydart for a wilderness walk ashore and a delicious beer in the Old Forge, one of the most remote pubs in the UK.
From there we sailed to Eilean Donan Castle where we anchored for the night. This iconic, ancient castle is situated in the most dramatic location where three beautiful sea lochs of Loch Long, Loch Alsh and Loch Duich meet. In the morning guests visited the castle before heading off to the beautiful village of Plockton on the shores of Loch Carron for lunch and a walk ashore.
As the afternoon drew to a close, we sailed towards Skye to a new stunning new anchorage at Loch Ainort with spectacular views of the rugged Cuillin mountains, spotting dolphins and porpoises on the way.
The next morning our chosen destination was the bustling Skye village of Broadford where guests went ashore to explore, before cruising all the way round the whole dramatic Sleat peninsula to Loch Eishort at the very top, another new Isle of Skye anchorage with fantastic views.
The following day it was on to Loch Scavaig on the Isle of Skye. After a week of glorious sunshine, the cloud level was low so the guests decided to go on a seal hunt on the tender before landing at Soay Island, which writer Gavin Maxwell once owned, for a walk and lunch.
Then it was on to the magnificent Island of Rum for the night before heading to Loch Drumbuie on the coastline of Ardnamurchan on our last day. Cruising back via Loch Spelve on the Isle of Mull, we were rewarded with a visit from a hen harrier and sea eagle, before arriving at our final destination at Oban.
